T

he Budget Meeting of the Fairlington Commons Council of Co-Owners will be held Thursday, December 7th in the Cafeteria of the Abingdon Elementary School located at 3035 South Abingdon Street, beginning at 7:30 p.m.  The primary purpose of the meeting is to discuss and approve the Commons budget for 2007 and any other topics of interest to Co-Owners and residents.  The meeting will be held in the Abingdon Elementary School due to the ongoing renovation of the Community Center.

In accordance with our By-Laws, notification of the Budget Meeting will be provided via U.S. Mail to all Co-Owners of record no later than 10 days prior to the meeting.   Included will be a letter from the Board discussing the budget, a copy of the budget for review, and a proxy form.

Co-Owners who do not plan to personally attend the Budget Meeting are requested to complete and return the proxy form.  The proxy form serves to establish a quorum for conduct of the meeting and as your ballot with regard to the budget and any other matters that may come before the Council of Co-Owners for a vote.

The proxy form is a legal document.  When submitting a proxy, please name the person who has your proxy.  You may direct that person to vote for or against the budget or to abstain, or you may leave the vote to their discretion.

Thanks Jim!

hanks to Commons resident Jim Sharpe, who went above and beyond the call of neighborliness and took the initiative to properly dispose of a car battery that had been dumped between the curb and sidewalk in the 4600 block of South 34th Street! It is important that residents take personal responsibility for disposing of items like paint cans and batteries that are not picked up by AAA-

Rainbow due to disposal restrictions

Doggie Depot Update

M

any thanks to Commons residents and dog owners Judy Barr and Jim Carbo for maintaining our Doggie Depots!  Their efforts ensure our residents and dog walkers a safe and sanitary place to deposit dog waste.

Thanks also to Cory Scott, who maintained the Utah Street Parking Lot Doggie Depot.  Cory moved from The Commons to Chicago.  Best Wishes Cory!

As a reminder – the Doggie Depots are not trashcans, and are intended for the disposal of dog waste only.

Automotive Theft

W

ithin the past two months, there have been three instances of theft involving vehicles parked in The Commons.  In the first, Arlington County Police apprehended a teenager stealing items from unlocked vehicles.  In the second, an attempt to steal a vehicle was thwarted by an ignition cutoff device, and the third was attempted theft of a radio.

Its been said before, but is worth repeating:
