ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/29/2008, 3800 block of Columbia Pike. Between 1:36 am and 1:44 am on June 29, someone broke an apartment window while the residents were inside. Entry was not made and police were called. A K-9 search was conducted with negative results. BURGLARY, 6/29/2008, 1700 block of N. 12th St. Between 7 pm on June 27 and 2 pm on June 29, someone entered an apartment through a window and took a laptop computer and an iPod. ROBBERY, 6/29/2008, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. Between 11 pm on June 28 and 12:15 am on June 29, a 34 year old man was walking when 3 male subjects approached and demanded money. The suspects grabbed the victim and forced him to walk behind a retail business. The suspects then punched and kicked the victim and broke a glass bottle on his head before taking his wallet, passport and baseball cap. This case may be related to the above robbery. The investigation is ongoing. ROBBERY, 6/29/2008, 2500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:20 am on June 29, two men were walking when they were approached by three male subjects in a parking lot. One suspect pointed a gun at one of the victims and struck him in the head with the weapon. After a brief struggle the suspect took cash from the victim. The second victim was assaulted by the other 2 suspects who took his cell phone, watch and cash. After the incident all 3 suspects fled in a small red car. Later, Fairfax County Police arrested several subjects who matched the descriptions provided in the Arlington case. The investigation is ongoing. SEXUAL BATTERY, 6/28/2008, 1000 block of S. Hayes St. At approximately 4:20 pm on June 28, a 21 year old woman was walking on a sidewalk when a man came up from behind and slapped her on the buttocks. The suspect then got into the passenger side of an older model, black Nissan and drove away. He is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 130-160 lbs. with short black, kinky hair. BURGLARY, 6/28/2008, 4200 block of Vacation Lane. Between 12 pm on June 23 and 2:01 pm on June 28, someone took stereo speakers and jewelry from a residence. BURGLARY, 6/27/2008, 1200 block of S. Clark St. Between 12 pm on June 16 and 12 pm on June 27, someone entered a business suite and took 2 laptop computers and a digital camera. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/27/2008, 1300 block of N. Courthouse Road. Between 2:30 pm on June 25, and 4:30 am on June 26, and unknown subject stole copper and other metal scraps from a locked construction site. There are no known suspects. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/26/2008, 4000 block of Wilson Boulevard. Between 4:30 pm on June 24, and 6:30 am on June 25, an unknown subject forcibly entered a business and stole a computer. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/26/2008, 5000 block of S. Chesterfield Road. On June 25 at 9 pm, a citizen witnessed an unknown male steal a flat screen TV from the apartment complex fitness room. The suspect left the scene in a small silver vehicle. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, between 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing a red “Phillies” base ball cap, a red “Phillies” polo shirt, and blue jeans. BURGLARY, 6/26/2008, 2200 block of N. Upton Street. Between 4:45 pm and 7:30 pm on June 25, an unknown subject entered a residence and left items. Nothing was taken; there is no suspect description. LARCENY FROM AUTO-ARREST, 6/26/2008, 1200 block of S. Courthouse Road. On June 25 at 5 am, police responded to the area for someone breaking into a vehicle. The suspect ran from officers, but was apprehended. Brian Dor, 34, of Annandale was charged with Grand Larceny, Destruction of Property, and Possession of Burglarious Tools. He was held on a $10,000 bond. ATTEMPTED COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/25/2008, 1200 block of S. Clark Street. Between 5:30 pm on June 23, and 6:45 am on June 24, an unknown subject attempted to break into a business. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/23/2008, 1700 block of N. Rhodes St. Between 6:30 am and 4 pm on June 23, someone entered a residence and took money and a laptop computer. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 6/20/2008, 3200 block of S. Stafford and Utah Streets. Between 11:30 pm on June 18, and 7:30 am on June 19, five vehicles were broken into and various electronic items were stolen. There is no suspect description. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 6/20/2008, 5500 block of N. 19th Street. Between 2 pm and 9 pm on June 19, an unknown subject attempted to forcibly enter a residence. There is no suspect description. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/20/2008, 2400 block of S. Glebe Road. On June 17, between 1 pm and 9 pm, an unknown subject entered a hotel room and stole items. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/20/2008, 1500 block of N. 16th Road. On June 19, between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm, a subject entered an apartment and stole items. There are no known suspects. BURGLARY, 6/20/2008, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. Between 3:30 pm on June 17, and 9:30 am on June 18, an unknown subject broke into several storage units at an apartment complex and stole various items. There is no suspect description. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 6/19/2008, 5100 block of S. 8th Road Between 8 pm on June 17, and 6 am on June 18, the catalytic converters were stolen from four vehicles in the area. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/19/2008, 3500 block of S. 16th Street On June 18, between 10 am and 12:30 pm, an unknown subject entered a residence and destroyed property. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/19/2008, 1300 block of S. Nelson Street Between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, an unknown subject entered a residence and stole various valuables. There is no suspect description. ATTEMPT TO DISARM POLICE-ARREST, 6/19/2008, 2200 block of S. Arlington Ridge Road On June 18 at 10:30 pm, police responded to the area for a dispute. A male on at the scene was disorderly. While interacting with police, he attempted to take an officer’s taser unit. Thurston Williams, 40, of Arlington, was charged with Drunk in Public and Attempt to Disarm a Police Officer. He was held without bond. LARCENY FROM AUTO-ARREST, 6/19/2008, 1300 block of S. Taylor Street At 10:20 pm on June 18, an officer observed three males running away from a vehicle that had been broken into. One subject was apprehended, and he then assaulted the officer. Nevin Maldonado, 18, of Annandale was charged with Assault, Petit Larceny, and Destruction of Property. He was held without bond. ROBBERY, 6/19/2008, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive On June 18, at 10 pm, a man was walking behind an apartment building. He was approached by an unknown male asking for money. The suspect then assaulted the man, and stole his cell phone. The suspect fled the scene with three other males. The suspect is described as an African American male, 6’, thin, wearing a white shirt and khaki pants. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/18/2008, 1900 block of S. Eads Street. Between 6 pm on June 13, and 6 am on June 16, and unknown subject broke into a business. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/18/2008, 4200 block of S. 12th Road. On June 17, between 9 am and 12:30 pm, an unknown subject entered a residence and destroyed property. There is no suspect description. GRAND LARCENY AUTO – ARRESTS, 6/15/2008, Various locations. At approximately 12:20 am on June 15, a resident in the 4600 block of S. 3rd Road heard his car alarm sound and went to investigate. He observed a subject going though the vehicle. When the victim yelled at the suspect he got into an SUV and drove off. Officers responded and stopped the vehicle in the area. Two men were taken into custody. This case is believe to be related to 3 other car break-ins in the 4600 block of S. 4th St., 600 block of S. Woodstock St. and the 100 block of S. Abingdon St. BURGLARY, 6/15/2008, 500 block of S. Wayne St. Between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm on June 15, someone entered a residence through an open door and took a laptop computer. BURGLARY, 6/15/2008, 5100 block of N. Lee Highway. Between 9:50 pm and 11:30 pm on June 15, someone entered a retail store and took money from the cash register. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 6/15/2008, 900 block S. Buchanan St. On June 15, at approximately 1:30 pm, two suspects approached a couple in an attempt to rob them. The couple, however, ran away. Officers in the area witnessed the encounter and arrested the two suspects. Brian Goodwin, 19, and Jason Garza, 19, both of Arlington, were charged with Attempted Robbery. GRAND LARCENY AUTO, 6/14/2008, 2300 block of S. Eads St. At approximately 10:15 am on June 14, someone took an overnight delivery van while the driver was inside a convenience store. The van was recovered a short time later about a block away. Most of the packages had been removed from the vehicle. BURGLARY, 6/14/2008, 5100 block of N. Lee Highway. Between 11 pm and 11:30 pm on June 14, someone broke into a retail store and took money from the cash register. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 6/14/2008, 4100 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 2:18 am on June 14, a 47 year old man was waiting for a ride when he observed 4 subjects slashing tires on vehicle in a parking lot. The victim yelled at the suspects and one of them slashed the victim’s arm with an unknown object. ROBBERY, 6/14/2008, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. At approximately 6:30 pm on June 14, a 15 year old boy was approached by a group of juveniles who forceable took a gold necklace. The victim was not injured. ARMED ROBBERY, 6/14/2008, 800 block of N. Ivy St. At approximately 11:37 pm on June 14, three women were walking down the street when two men approached. One of the suspects was armed with a gun. They took the victims’ purses and fled on foot. BURGLARY, 6/13/2008, 2700 block of Clarendon Boulevard. Between 2:30 am and 3:30 am on June 13, an unknown subject broke into a business. Police were called when a passerby saw the front door had been damaged. Various electronic items were stolen. There is no suspect description. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/13/2008, 2100 block of N. Glebe Road. On June 13, at 2:30 am, an alarm alerted police to a break in at a restaurant. No items were taken and there are no known suspects. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/13/2008, 2000 block of S. Jefferson Davis Highway. Between 5 pm on June 11, and 7 am on June 12, an unknown subject broke into a business and stolen computer equipment. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/12/2008, 700 block of N. Wayne St. Between 4:30 pm on June 11 and 9 am on June 12, someone entered the workout and theater rooms in an apartment building and took a TV and projector. BURGLARY-ARREST, 6/12/2008, 1500 block of N. Glebe Road. At 1:50 am on June 11, police responded to a church for an alarm. When officers found the building open, a K9 unit searched the property. A suspect was located inside. Johannes Hailu, 28, of Falls Church, was charged with Burglary and held on a $2,500 bond. BURGLARY, 6/11/2008, 1600 block of S. Eads Street. Between 6 am and 6:30 pm on June 10, an unknown subject broke into an apartment and stole various items. There is no suspect descripotion. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/9/2008, 2500 block of Columbia Pike. Between 11 pm on June 7, and 8 am on June 8, a subject entered a restaurant and took money. There are no known suspects. BURGLARY, 6/9/2008, 2300 block S. 26th Street. On June 9, between 3 am and 3:20 am, a subject entered the mail room of an apartment building. This burglary is also related to a larceny which occurred around the same time at nearby location. The suspects are described as two African American males. BURGLARY, 6/9/2008, 1900 block of Columbia Pike. Sometime between 9 pm on June 6, and noon on June 7, an unknown subject entered an apartment through a window. Items were then stolen. There is no suspect description. INDECENT EXPOSURE, 6/9/2008, 2500 block of Washington Boulevard. On June 4 at 8:30 pm, a woman was walking along the sidewalk and saw a male exposing himself under a tree. She ran and called police. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 30 years old, 5’9”, 180 lbs, wearing a black hat, black shirt, and khaki shorts. ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 6/9/2008, 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At 1:50 am on June 7, a man at a bar got into an argument with three subjects. When he left the bar, one of the males assaulted him, and then fled. The suspect is described as a thin Hispanic male, 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a green and white striped polo shirt. CAR JACKING, 6/9/2008, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. On June 8, at 6 pm, a male picked up an unknown female in his vehicle. When he dropped her off in front of the mall, three unknown males approached the vehicle. One of the males got into the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle and began fighting with the other two males. One of the other males then entered the vehicle and drove it away. The third male ran into the metro. The three males were all African American, in their early 20’s. One male was 5’7”, 300 lbs, wearing a red shirt. The second male was 5’7”, 165 lbs, wearing a black shirt, black bandana, and carrying a black bag. The female was African American with a light complexion, 26 years old, 5’6”, and 140lbs. She was last seen wearing a jean skirt, a yellow shirt, and yellow high heeled shoes. LARCENY FROM AUTO-ARREST, 6/6/2008, 4800 block of S. 7th Street On June 5, at 2 am, police responded to a call about a vehicle that had recently been broken into. Two subjects were located and detained by police. One suspect is a juvenile. The second suspect, Everaldo Lopez-Ordonez, 18, of no fixed address, was charged with Grand larceny, Conspiracy to Commit Grand Larceny, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Destruction of Property. He was held without bond. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/6/2008, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street At 10 pm on June 5, two unknown men were shown on surveillance entering a kiosk at a mall. The first male is described as an African American male, in his late teens, with short hair. He was wearing jeans, a white tank top, red underwear, and white shoes. The second suspect was an African American male in dark clothing. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/6/2008, 5900 block of N. Washington Boulevard Sometime between 7:30 pm on June 3, and 9 pm on June 5, an unknown subject entered a business and stole various items. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 6/6/2008, 1100 block of S. Wakefield Street On June 5, between 11 am and 3 pm, a subject entered a residence through an open window and stole a laptop computer. There is no suspect description. ATTEMPTED MURDER - ARREST, 6/3/2008, 1200 block of S. Thomas St. At approximately 10:18 am on June 3, officers responded to an apartment for a reported domestic dispute. A 26 year old woman was found lying on a bedroom floor, with injuries to the head and neck. She was treated on scene by medics and transported to a local hospital where she remains in grave condition. The victim’s husband, Sirak Manbegirot, 28, of Arlington, was later arrested and charged with Attempted Murder. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility. TAMPERING - ARREST, 6/1/2008, 2300 block of N. 14th St. At approximately 3:01 am on June 1, officers responded for a report of three male subjects attempting to break into vehicles in an apartment building parking garage. The suspects attempted to flee but were stopped by an officer. One of the suspects, Franklin Linares-Ortiz, 19, of Laurel, MD, was arrested and charged with Possession of Burglarious Tools. The investigation continues. BURGLARY, 6/1/2008, 1600 block of N. Danville St. At approximately 10:30 pm on June 1, someone entered a residence and took a CD player. Officers responded and located a possible suspect nearby. The investigation continues. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 6/1/2008, 700 block of S. 23rd St. Between 10:30 pm on May 31 and 1:30 pm on June 1, someone broke into a retail business and took money from the cash register. INDECENT EXPOSURE - ARREST, 6/1/2008, 1300 block of S. Quincy St. At approximately 7:33 pm on June 1, a 45 year old woman was walking down the street when a man approached and exposed himself to her. The victim threatened to scream and the suspect fled. With information provided by a witness, officers later located the suspect at his home and arrested him. Luis Fernandez-Orantes, 22, of Arlington, was charged with Indecent Exposure and held on $2500 bond. BURGLARY, 5/31/2008, 2300 block of Shirlington Rd. Between 8:30 pm on May 30 and 8:30 pm on May 31, someone entered a residence and took cash, electronics and clothing. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY - ARREST, 5/30/2008, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. 05/30/08, At approximately 6:56 am on May 30, a male suspect broke into a clothing store’s storage room and attempted to take a large amount of merchandise. When the suspect exited the room he was met by waiting police officers and taken into custody. Jake Bernard Johnson, 58, of Mount Rainier, MD, was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Larceny with Intent to Distribute for this incident and a similar break-in at the same location on May 29. He was held without bond. ASSAULT & BATTERY ON POLICE- ARREST, 5/30/2008, 3700 block of S. Kemper Rd. At approximately 6:15 pm on May 30, an officer spotted a man stumbling repeatedly. When the officer approached the subject, he took off running. The Officer gave chase and when he caught up to the man, the suspect took a swing at the officer striking him in the face. A struggle ensued during which the suspect attempted to grab the officer’s gun. The officer radioed for assistance and the suspect was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. Marlow Devonte Terry, 30, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and Battery on Police, Attempting to Disarm a Law Enforcement Officer; Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana. He was held without bond. FELONY HIT AND RUN, 5/29/2008, Washington Blvd. at Patrick Henry Drive. On May 29 at approximately 7:35 pm, the driver of a pickup truck was stopped to make a left turn onto Patrick Henry Drive when he was struck by another vehicle from behind. The suspect put his vehicle in reverse and drove off. Donald McCarthney, 54, of Arlington, was later apprehended and charged with DUI, Felony Hit and Run, and No Operator’s License. COMMERICAL BURGLARY, 5/29/2008, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. Between 7:19 pm on May 28 and 7:45 am on May 29, someone entered a storage room and took clothing and a computer monitor. The suspect was caught on the store’s surveillance camera and said to be black male. After this incident the store surveillance was reviewed for past alarms and the same suspect was seen on five prior alarm calls. ROBBERY, 5/29/2008, 2100 block of S. Fern St. At approximately 11:35 am on May 29, a 77 year old woman was walking home, when a man came up behind her and forcibly took her purse from her arm. The suspect is described as a black male in his 40’s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 160 lbs., wearing black pants and a beige t-shirt. BURGLARY, 5/28/2008, 1600 block of S. Oakland St. Between 9 am and 1:30 pm on May 28, someone entered a residence through an unlocked door and ransacked two bedrooms. Nothing appears to be missing. GRAND LARCENY, 5/28/2008, 6900 block of N. Lee Highway. Between 10:00 pm on May 27 and 8:00 am on May 28, someone took four catalytic converters and two wheels the parking lot of a business. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/28/2008, Various Locations. Between 8 pm on May 27 and 7 am on May 28, seven cars in close proximity to each other were broken into. The incidents occurred in the 4800 block of S. 27th Rd, the 2800 block of S. Buchanan St and the 4800 block of S. 28th St. Items were taken from some of the vehicles including electronic devices and money. BURGLARY, 5/27/2008, 1300 block of S. Taylor St. Between 5:30 am and 1 pm on May 27, someone reached in through an open window and took a laptop computer from a residence. GRAND LARCENY, 5/27/2008, 2700 block of S. Jefferson Davis Highway. Between May 21 and 12:30 pm on May 27, someone entered an ATM machine in a hotel lobby and took cash. BURGLARY, 5/27/2008, 900 block of S. Rolfe St. Between 7:20 am and 4:12 pm on May 27, a resident returned home and discovered that her front door had been kicked in. Someone rummaged through the residence and took cash. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/26/2008, 100 block of N. Wakefield St. On May 26 at around 11:00 am, an unknown suspect slashed a screen door and a window screen, and broke two panes of glass, in an attempt to enter a vacant residence. Nothing appears to be missing. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/26/2008, 1400 block of Lee Highway. Between 3:30 am and 3:48 am on May 26, two female friends got into a physical altercation in a hotel room and one of them threw a glass bottle at the other, striking her in the forehead. The victim suffered a deep laceration. Montinia Askew, 23, of Hampton, VA, was charged with Malicious Wounding and held on $10,000 bond. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 5/26/2008, 1700 block of S. George Mason Dr. At approximately 7:30pm on May 26, a 15 year old boy was at a convenience store when two suspects approached and attempted to take his bike by force. The victim was able to get away but several minutes later the suspects approached again and tried to take both the victim’s bicycle and his brother’s bike. The boys got away and called police. Officers responded and stopped both suspects. One 15 year old juvenile was taken into custody. A second 15 year old juvenile was released pending further investigation. ARMED ROBBERY, 5/26/2008, 4900 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 11:49 pm on May 26, a 38 year old man was putting trash in a dumpster outside a convenience store when two men approached. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim handed over cash and the suspects fled on foot. Suspect #1 is described as a soft-spoken black male, 18-20 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 140 lbs. Suspect #2 is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, wearing dark clothing. FATAL ACCIDENT, 5/25/2008, I-395/GW Parkway At approximately 7 am on May 25, a group of motorcyclists was traveling northbound on I-395 and took the George Washington Parkway/Boundary Channel exit. The group was headed to the Pentagon North parking lot for the Rolling Thunder ride, but the lead motorcyclist was unsure which ramp to take and braked suddenly causing a chain reaction accident. One motorcyclist, 49 year old Anthony Beam of Scranton, Pennsylvania, was thrown from his bike and fatally injured. Three other people suffered minor injuries. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/25/2008, 2000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. At approximately 11 pm on May 25, a 52 year old man reported he was attempting to get into a hotel elevator when a male suspect inside the elevator struck him with an unknown object. The victim suffered a laceration on his head. The suspect was not located. He is described as a while male, approximately 6 feet tall and 240 lbs., with light brown hair. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/24/2008, 1100 block of S. Hayes St. Between 12:25 pm and 1:40 pm on May 24, someone smashed the front passenger windows of two separate cars and stole both portable GPS systems. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/24/2008, 4300 block of N. 4th St. At approximately 6:06 pm on May 24, two male roommates got into a fight and one stabbed the other in the arm with a broken bottle. This incident is still under investigation and charges are pending. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/24/2008, 800 block of S. Greenbrier St. Between 1:30 am and 1:41 am on May 24, two male friends were drinking in an apartment when they got into an argument. The suspect jumped on the victim and started biting and scratching him. The victim suffered multiple injuries. John Duffy Murray, 43, of Arlington, was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond. ATTMEPTED COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 5/23/2008, 2000 block of N. 15th St. Between 8:30 pm and 9:19 pm on May 23, someone broke the door to an office. Nothing appears to be missing. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/23/2008, 1300 block of S. Joyce St. Between 10:02 am and 10:15 am on May 23, two female coworkers at a retail store got into a physical altercation. The suspect punched the victim repeatedly. The victim sustained a broken nose and several cuts. Shante Taylor, 19, of Washington, D.C. was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/23/2008, 1500 block of Arlington Boulevard. Between 7:00 pm on May 21, and 4:53 am on May 22, five vehicles were broken into in a garage parking lot. Miscellaneous items were stolen. BURGLARY, 5/23/2008, 1500 block of N. McKinley Road. Between 10:30 pm on May 13, and 6:30 am on May 14, an unknown subject entered a residence through the basement door. Several electronic items were stolen. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/22/2008, 1500 block of Arlington Boulevard. Between 9:30 pm on May 21, and 5 am on May 22, three vehicles were broken into. A window was broken out of each vehicle and items were stolen. There are no known suspects. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/22/2008, 2400 block of S. Army Navy Drive. Between 11:30 pm on May 20, and 7:30 am on May 21, three vehicles were broken into. All vehicles were parked inside a residential garage. There are no known suspects. The suspect stole cash from the driver before fleeing the area. The suspect is a white Hispanic male, 30 years of age, 5’7”, 180 lbs, with shoulder length curly brown hair. The suspect was last seen wearing a navy t-shirt and jeans. ROBBERY, 5/22/2008, 4200 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At 9 pm, on May 21, a man was walking when he was approached by two unknown males. The subject forced him to the ground and removed him of any valuables. The suspects then walked away. Both suspects were African American males, 6’2”, with a medium build, dressed in all black, with black bandanas over their faces. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 5/22/2008, 2000 block of S. Eads Street. On May 21 at 8:15 pm, an unknown female was allowed into an apartment. While inside, she attempted to cut one of several males with a pocket knife. Another male tried to restrain her and she cut him in the finger. The female and three other individuals inside the apartment then left the scene before police arrived. The investigation is ongoing. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/21/2008, 500 block of S. 18th Street. On May 20, between 3 am and 8 am, four vehicles were broken into. All vehicles were locked and forcibly entered. There are no known suspects. BURGLARY, 5/21/2008, 1900 block of N. Uhle Street. Sometime between 6 pm on May 10, and 4:30 pm on May 20, an unknown subject forcibly entered a residence and stole electronic items. There are no known suspects. BRANDISHING OF A FIREARM, 5/21/2008, 1700 block of N. Veitch Street. Shortly before midnight on May 20, police responded to a residence for a call about a man with a shotgun. A female stated that her ex-boyfriend and an unknown man came into her apartment. Her ex-boyfriend threatened her with the shotgun and left the scene. ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST, 5/21/2008, 500 block of N. Glebe Road. On May 21, at 12:30 am, a man was walking when he was approached by three unknown men. One subject bumped into the victim and an argument ensued. The suspect then attempted to stab the victim with a knife, but was held back by his acquaintances. They all ran from the area. The police responded and located the suspects. Hector Herrera-Roman, 20, of Arlington, was charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding and held without bond. BURGLARY, 5/20/2008, 2000 block of S. On May 19, between 9 am and 4:30 pm, several subjects entered a residence through an unlocked door and stole items. A juvenile suspect was detained. BURGLARY, 5/18/2008, 800 block of S. 18th St. Between 3 am on May 10 and 12:30 am on May 18, someone entered a home while the residents were away and took cash and other items. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 5/17/2008, 1000 block of N. Arlington Blvd. Between 11:30 pm on May 16 and 9 am on May 17, someone broke into 7 parked cars by smashing windows. Two airbags were removed from one vehicle and GPS units were taken from 2 other cars. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/17/2008, 1600 block of S. Crystal Drive. Between 2 am and 5:05 am on May 17, someone gained entry to a restaurant by damaging the front door. It does not appear anything was taken. BURGLARY, 5/17/2008, 6300 block of N. 30th St. Between 12 pm and 1:30 pm on May 17, someone entered a residence through an unlocked window and took jewelry and 2 iPods. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/16/2008, 900 block of N. Glebe Rd. At approximately 1 pm on May 16, a woman returned to her office and discovered a male suspect inside. The victim screamed and alerted her co-workers who unsuccessfully attempted to prevent the suspect from escaping. Nothing was taken. COMMERICAL BURGLARY, 5/16/2008, 4300 block of Fairfax Drive. Between 4:40 pm on May 15 and 6:30 am on May 16, someone pried open the door to an office and took 2 laptop computers. ROBBERY, 5/16/2008, 5100 block of S. 7th Rd. At approximately 4 pm on May 16, a 49 year old man was walking in a park when a suspect jumped him from behind. The suspect punched and kicked the victim and then took his wallet and cell phone. The suspect fled on foot and is described as a black male, 30-35 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and 240 lbs. BURGLARY, 5/16/2008, 1700 block of S. Oakland Street. On May 15, sometime between 7 am and 6 pm, an unknown subject broke into a residence and stole multiple items. There is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 5/16/2008, 2100 block of S. Crystal Drive. At 6 am on May 15, an employee reported that the business surveillance video captured a break in and theft of a computer from the previous night. The suspect is described as an African American male, 25 to 25 years old, wearing a black jacket with grey sleeves, jeans, and brown shoes. ROBBERY, 5/16/2008, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. On May 15 at 11:30 pm, an employee was attempting to make deposit at a bank when an unknown subject approached from behind. The suspect took the deposit bag from the employee and fled. The suspect is described as an African American male in his early 20’s, 6’, 180 lbs, with dreadlocks and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a green striped shirt and jeans. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 5/15/2008, 1800 block of S. Bell Street. At midnight on May 15, a man was walking when he was hit from behind by an unknown subject. The suspect produced a knife and demanded money. The victim fled the area and called police. The suspect is described as an African American male, 40 years old, 5’8”, thin, with short facial hair. The suspect was last seen wearing all black clothing, with a black bucket style hat and black backpack. ROBBERY/ABDUCTION, 5/15/2008, 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. On May 15 at 12:30 am, a subject called police stating that he had been abducted. The victim stated that two men with weapons forced him into his vehicle and made him drive them to several addresses in D.C. he was released, and the vehicle was recovered in D.C. One male hit him, and when he fell, two men stole money from his pocket. The first male is described as an African American male, 20 years old, 5’7”, 150 lbs, with short hair. He was wearing a green and black t-shirt, jeans, and black shoes. The second male was an African American male, 20 years old, 6’, 160 lbs, with a goatee. He was last seen wearing all black clothing. ROBBERY, 5/13/2008, 200 block of S. 18th Street. On May 12 at 3:20 pm, a female was in a public bathroom stall. An unknown male forced his way into the stall, and assaulted the woman as he stole from her purse. He then fled the area. On May 11, at 7:30 am, a female was walking on the sidewalk. A late model green sedan pulled up beside her, and the male driver exposed himself to her before driving off. The suspect is described as a white male, between 20 and 30 years old, with black hair and brown eyes. SEXUAL ASSAULT, 5/12/2008, 52200 block of S. 8th Road. At 6 pm on May 10, a male roommate grabbed a woman’s breast without her consent. When the woman’s husband confronted the suspect, he was then assaulted by the roommate, and the suspect fled the scene. DEATH INVESTIGATION, 5/12/2008, 4000 block of N. Randolph Street. At 7:20 am on May 11, police responded to a call about a person falling from a balcony. Upon arrival, a 32 year old female victim was found deceased on the ground level. The events surrounding the victim’s fall are still being investigated. MALICOUS WOUNDING-ARREST, 5/12/2008, 1000 block of S. Frederick Street. On May 10 at 2:30 am, officers responded to an apartment for reports of cries for help. Officers found the suspect attempting to push a woman holding an infant out of a window. On May 6, at 10:30 pm, a man on the street was approached by a vehicle. The two men in the vehicle asked the man for a dollar, then took all of his cash when he pulled it from his pocket. The vehicle then drove off. The suspects are described as African American males in their 20’s. The vehicle was a dark colored SUV. SEXUAL ASSAULT, 5/7/2008, 1400 block of S. George Mason Drive. At 10 pm on May 6, a woman was walking on the sidewalk. An unknown male approached her from behind and grabbed her breast. When he tried to push her to ground, she yelled loudly. The man then ran off. The suspect is described as Asian male, mid 30’s, 5”5”, 170lbs. The man had dark hair and dark eyes, and was dressed in dark clothing. BANK ROBBERY, 5/7/2008, 800 block of N. Randolph Street. On May 6, at 9 am, an unknown male entered a bank and demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank on foot. The male is described as a white Hispanic male, 5’10”. The suspect has facial hair and was last seen wearing a light blue shirt with white stripes, tan pants, a black knit hat, and sunglasses. BURGLARY, 5/6/2008, 1300 block of S. Walter Reed Drive. On May 5 at 2pm a maintenance manager discovered a storage room had been broken it. Items were stolen and there is no suspect description. BURGLARY, 5/6/2008, 1500 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. Sometime between 6 pm on May 3 and 9:30 am on May 5, an unknown subject broke into an apartment complex and stole items. There is no suspect description. Jorge Sanches Hernandez, 23, of Arlington, was charged with Obscene Sexual Display and held on a $1000 bond. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 5/5/2008, 1500 block of S. Crystal Drive. On May 3 at 5:30 pm, an unknown subject attempted to gain access to an apartment. The resident was at home when the door opened, a chain lock prevented the suspect from gaining entry. Upon investigation, they discovered suspects breaking into the school to steal construction items. Both subjects fled on foot, and one suspect was apprehended. On April 28, at 3 am, police responded to an alarm at a business. Upon arrival, they discovered the business had been broken into, and a vehicle was possibly stolen. ASSAULT AND BATTERY/DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM, 4/28/2008, 2000 block of S. Eads Street. On April 26 at 2 am, police responded to the area for a fight. A fight occurred between two groups of people unknown to each other. A firearm was possibly discharged. The investigation is ongoing. ATTEMPTED CARJACKING, 4/28/2008, Arlington Boulevard and Carlin Springs Road. At 2 am on April 26, a woman was stopped at a red light when two unknown males approached her car. They ordered her out of the vehicle. After she exited the car, the two suspects began arguing with each other and went to the rear of her vehicle. The victim jumped back into her car a drove off safely. The suspects are described as two white Hispanic males. ROBBERY, 4/28/2008, 2900 block of S. Arlington Ridge Road. On April 26 at 1;30 am, a man was waiting at the bus stop when he approached and robbed by three unknown men. The suspects are described as two African American males and one white Hispanic male. BANK ROBBERY, 4/28/2008, 1700 block of N. Fort Myer Drive. At 6 pm on April 25, a man entered a bank and demanded money. After receiving some money, the suspect fled the bank in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as an African American male light with a light complexion, 5’1”. MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST, 4/25/2008, 2000 block of N. Dinwiddie Street. At 7 pm on April 24, a subject pushed a knife against an acquaintance’s neck. The victim received superficial wounds. The suspect was located by police. Darrick Jackson, 35, of Washington D.C., was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond. BURGLARY-ARREST, 4/25/2008, 1500 block of N. Clarendon Boulevard. On April 25, at 12 am, the victim was assaulted by a male she did not know inside her apartment. When he fled, she called police. The suspect was located and identified shortly afterward. On April 23 at 10 am, a woman found the door to her residence unlocked and items missing. There are no known suspects. BURGLARY, 4/24/2008, 04/23/08, 3000 block of S. 20th Street. Between 7 am on April 22, and 4 pm on April 23, an unknown subject entered a residence and stole two computers. BURGLARY-ARREST, 4/24/2008, 04/23/08, 3300 block of N. 3rd Road. On April 23 at 11:50 am, police were called about two unknown men in the backyard to a residence. Police apprehended two men attempting to break into a house. Tyree Speight, 18, of Washington D.C., was charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering. Michael Jones, 24, of Washington D.C., was charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering and Possession of Marijuana. They were both held without bond. ROBBERY, 4/24/2008, 04/23/08, 700 block of S. 15th Street. At 3:30 pm on April 23, two men walking through a parking lot were approached by a vehicle. Two suspects exited the car and demanded personal electronics, which they took from the victims. The suspects then got into the vehicle, which was driven by a third male, and drove away. The suspects are described as two African American males, one large, and one thin. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/21/2008, 100 block of N. Thomas St. Between 5 pm on April 18 and 5:45 am on April 21, someone broke into a school under construction and tore out copper pipes that were newly installed. Copper fittings and tools were also taken. The vandalism caused significant water damage to the site. ATTEMPTED GRAND LARCENY AUTO - ARREST, 4/21/2008, 1300 block of S. George Mason Drive. At approximately 4:55 pm on April 21, officers responded for a report of someone tampering with a vehicle. When the male suspect inside the vehicle spotted an officer approaching, he took off running and fled into an apartment building in the 4200 block of S. 16th Street. Several hours later, the suspect, a 17 year old juvenile, was located inside an apartment, hiding in a clothes hamper in a closet. Petitions were filed charging him with Attempted Grand Larceny Auto, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Destruction of Property. LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 4/19/2008, Various locations. Between 8 pm on April 18 and 5 am on April 19, someone entered 8 unlocked vehicles parked in the 2300 block of N. Jackson St., 2100 block of N. Pollard St. 3600 block of N. Piedmont St., 3200 block of N. 23rd St. and 4000 block of N. 23rd St. Electronics and other items were taken from 5 of the vehicles. BURGLARY, 4/18/2008, 6200 block of N. 12th St. Between 9:15 am and 4:30 pm on April 18, someone pried open a window to gain entry to a residence and took electronics. BURGLARY, 4/18/2008, 1400 block of S. 28th St. Between 3 pm and 4 pm on April 18, someone entered an apartment through an open window and took jewelry and electronics. FELONY HIT AND RUN - ARREST, 4/18/2008, N. Glebe Rd. and Route 50. At approximately 11:07 pm on April 18, a Toyota Camry was attempting to make a left turn from northbound Glebe Road to westbound Route 50 when another vehicle, a Ford Mustang, traveling southbound struck the Camry. After the collision, the driver of the Mustang fled on foot. Jorge Perez, 31, was later located by officers on Cathedral Lane and charged with Felony Hit and Run, Felony DUI and Driving Revoked. CARJACKING, 4/18/2008, 3400 block of N. Washington Blvd. At approximately 3:41 pm on April 18, an employee at an auto shop moved a customer’s car out of a service bay. Moments later, while the employee was moving another car into the bay, an unknown suspect took off in the first vehicle. A witness went after the stolen vehicle and tried to block it in on a nearby street. However, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the witness and then fled towards Rosslyn. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s. He was wearing a black baseball cap and a white basketball-style jersey with red on the shoulders. The stolen vehicle is a Silver 1998 Acura TL with Virginia vanity plates "PAPYLON." ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 4/18/2008, 2000 block of S. 27th Street. Sometime between 8:30 am on April 14 and 3:30 pm on April 17, an unknown subject attempted to gain access to a residence by damaging the door. ATTEMPTED COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/17/2008, 3800 block of N. Fairfax Drive. Sometime between 9 pm on April 14 and 9:30 am on April 16, an unknown subject attempted to gain access to a business by damaging the door. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/17/2008, 2200 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On April 16 at 9:30 am, employees discovered that multiple office items had been stolen sometime overnight. There were no signs of forced entry, and there is no suspect description. ROBBERY-ARREST, 4/17/2008, 4200 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. On April 16 at 8 pm, two subjects approached a male in the mall. They demanded money and displayed a weapon. Once the victim complied, the suspects fled. One suspect was located by police. The second suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, in his early 20’s, 5’7”, last seen wearing a loose white t-shirt, jeans, a black head wrap. Yuri Nicaragua Jaime, 27, of Falls Church, was charged with Robbery and held without bond. BURGLARY, 4/15/2008, 100 block of S. Courthouse Road. Between 5:45 pm on April 11, and 11 am on April 12, an unknown subject broke into the recreation room of an apartment building and stole items. There is no suspect description. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 4/15/2008, 4200 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. On April 14 at 8:30 pm, a man was approached by an unknown subject. The subject asked for money, then attempted to steal electronics from the victim. The victim and suspect fought, and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was described as a teenage African American male of average height and weight. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 4/15/2008, 1300 block of N. Roosevelt Street. At 9 pm on April 14, a woman was walking away from the metro when an unknown male ran up to her and tried to steal her purse. When the suspect fled on foot, a second male joined him. The first male was 5’8”, thin, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. The second male was 5’7” and wore a grey hooded sweatshirt. GRAND LARCENY AUTO, 4/15/2008, 900 block of S. Army Navy Drive. At 3:30 pm on April 14, the same suspect from the robbery/carjacking walked to a vehicle parked in front of a grocery store. The keys were in the ignition as the vehicle’s owner loaded groceries into the back of car. The suspect entered the vehicle and drove it away. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/CAR JACKING, 4/15/2008, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. On April 14 at 2:30 pm, a subject approached a male and asked for a ride to a disabled vehicle. After the man drove around Arlington, the passenger brandished a weapon and demanded money. The victim fled the vehicle and asked bystanders for help. The suspect attempted to steal the vehicle, but then fled on foot. The suspect was described as an African American male, 25-35 years of age, 5’6”-5’9”, 140lbs, wearing a blue sweatshirt, and dark pants. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/14/2008, 2100 block of N. Lee Highway. Between 6:30 pm on April 10, and 6:30 am on April 11, an unknown subject broke into a business and stole money. There is no suspect description. DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED- DRUGS, 4/14/2008, 500 block of S. Glebe Road. On April 12 at 4pm, a man drove his vehicle into a building. No bystanders were injured. The driver was found to be under the influence of narcotics. Rodderick Gene, 31, of Alexandria, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated- Drugs and Possession of Cocaine. He was held on a $1,000 bond. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 4/14/2008, 4200 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At 2 am on April 13, officers responded to the hospital for a call about a malicious wounding. A subject stated that he was stabbed in the arm at the Ballston Metro sometime between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm on April 12, by an unknown subject. There is no suspect description. ROBBERY, 4/14/2008, 900 block of N. Stuart Street. On April 12 at 9 pm, a man was walking away from the mall when he was approached by a large group of unknown men. Two suspects assaulted the victim and forcibly removed cash from his hand. The suspects then fled on foot. One suspect is described as an African American male in his 20’s, 5’8”, 130 lbs, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. The description for the other suspect is unknown. ROBBERY, 4/11/2008, 5200 block of S. 8th Road. On April 11 at 3 am, a man was walking to his residence when he was approached by two unknown men. The men threatened the victim and demanded money, which the victim gave them. The suspects then fled on foot. The suspects are described as two African American males in their 20’s. The first suspect was 5’10”, 200 lbs, wore a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The second male was 5’10”, 170 lbs, and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and grey shorts. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 4/9/2008, 1800 block of N. Veitch Street. On April 9, at 1:30 am, officers responded for a noise heard outside a residence. A broken window was located at the back of the house. There were no suspects onscene, and there is no suspect description. MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 4/9/2008, 800 block of S. Greenbriar Street. On April 8 at 10:30 am, police responded to the area for a malicious wounding. A man stated that an unknown subject approached him on the sidewalk yelling racial slurs. The suspect then tried to cut the victim with a small knife. The victim suffered minor injuries and the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, and 5’3”. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and black jeans. BURGLARY, 4/8/2008, 1500 block of Clarendon Blvd. On April 7, between 6:45 am and 6 pm, an unknown subject entered an apartment and stole several items. There is no suspect information. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/8/2008, 2700 block of S. Jefferson Davis Highway. Sometime between noon on April 5, and 7 am on April 7, an unknown subject broke into a secure room at a hotel, and stole money. There is no suspect description. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/8/2008, 3900 block of N. Cathedral Lane. At 6:30 am on April 7, a foreman discovered a damaged door to a secure room at a construction site. Copper tubing was stolen from the room. There are no known suspects. BANK ROBBERY, 4/8/2008, 4100 Wilson Blvd. On April 7 at 10 am, an unknown male handed a bank teller a note, implied carrying a weapon, and robbed the teller. The suspect is described as a male, 5’8”, average build, wearing dark pants and a black hooded windbreaker. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY - ARREST, 4/7/2008, 800 block of N. Emerson St. At approximately 2:08 am on April 7, two officers heard loud noises and discovered the rear door of a business had been kicked in. The officers saw a suspect inside the store and confronted him. The suspect ran to the front of the store, kicked out the door and took off. He was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Donald Sean Musil, 34, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Burglary, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Petit Larceny. He was held without bond. BURGLARY, 4/5/2008, 600 block of N. Harrison St. Between 5 pm on April 1 and 10 am on April 5, someone pried open the door to a garage and took a large amount of tools. CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT GRAND LARCENY - ARRESTS, 4/4/2008, 1500 block of S. Eads St. At approximately 3:34 pm on April 4, a witness called police after observing 4 suspects break into a vehicle. The suspects smashed the front passenger window and took an iPod. The witness followed the suspects until he lost sight of them. The suspects, four male juveniles from Washington, D.C., were taken into custody a short time later by Pentagon Police near the Pentagon Metro Station. The victim’s iPod was recovered. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 4/4/2008, 330 block of N. Harrison Street. On April 3, at 12 pm, a man reported that the house he has up for sale was damaged. The destruction appeared consistent with an attempted breaking and entering. There are no known suspects. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/4/2008, 520 block of N. Wilson Blvd. Shortly after 4 am on April 4, a citizen witnessed an unknown subject climbing out of a broken window at a business. The citizen chased the subject and called police. The suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8”, 150 lbs, with an unkempt and dirty appearance. UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 4/3/2008, 4200 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At 7 pm on April 2, a woman at a restaurant reported seeing a man in a stall in the women’s bathroom. Police responded and the suspect was still in the restroom. Michael Tomlin, 43, of Arlington, was arrested for Unlawful Entry and Drunk in Public. He was held without bond. ROBBERY, 4/3/2008, 2500 block of S. Columbia Pike. On April 2, at 7 pm, an elderly woman was walking through a breezeway when an unknown male reached in her coat pocket and forcefully stole her wallet. He fled on foot. The suspect is described as an African American male in his 30’s, between 5’11” and 6’2”, wearing all black clothing. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/2/2008, 1215 S. Clark Street. Sometime between 6 pm on March 31, and 6 am on April 1, an unknown subject forced entry into a business and stole items. There is no suspect description. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 4/2/2008, 4000 S. Four Mile Run Drive. At 12 pm on April 1, a business owner reported several items missing from his business. There was no forced entry. EXPOSURE, 4/2/2008, 500 block of N. Park Drive. At 11:30 pm on April 1, a woman was washing clothes in a basement laundry room. She heard knocking and turned to see a male masturbating outside the window. The victim yelled that she was calling police and the suspect fled. The suspect was described as a light skinned African American or Asian male, wearing blue jean shorts and a white polo shirt. ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT, 4/2/2008, S. Four Mile Run Drive at Columbia Pike. On April 1, at 11 pm, police were called to the area. A woman stated she was on the bike path behind the tennis courts and an unknown male ran up behind her, and forced her to the ground. She then kicked and hit him. The victim fled the scene. She was not physically injured. The suspect was a white Hispanic male, 5’2”, wearing all black clothing.
