July 2000
Association Fees Effective July 1st a late fee charge of $10.00 will be assessed for association fees received after the 5th of the month. This is in accordance with the newly approved Amended By-Laws. You can make arrangements with Legum & Norman for a direct debit for the monthly association fee by calling Sher Opal at 703/848-4339. Water Conservation Program In an on-going effort to conserve water and reduce costs, Water Management, Inc. monitors water usage throughout the Green. Currently, two meters have been identified as showing inefficient water usage. The affected units are 3263-81 S. Stafford and 4101-15 S. 33rd Street. Water Management, Inc. will be contacting these residents directly to fix water leaks in toilets, replace shower heads and repair leaky kitchen/bathroom faucets AT NO COST TO THE UNIT OWNER. We encourage all residents to take advantage of this program and work with Water Management, Inc. to give them access to your unit. Residents will be contacted directly by Water Management, Inc. to schedule repairs. Parking Lots Resurfacing of parking lots and installation of new signs took place in June. Please observe the one vehicle per unit rule with respect to the off-street parking areas. Our village has limited off-street parking and this rule is necessary to provide equal access to these areas. The problem is best handled through courtesy to our fellow neighbors. Please park only one car per unit in the off-street parking area. Additional autos should be parked on the street. Sidewalk Repairs Concrete sidewalks and steps in the Green will be repaired and replaced as necessary throughout the summer. Once repairs are completed affected grass areas will be seeded and straw will be put down. We ask residents to assist with watering these areas so the new grass will get a good start. Use of Common Areas Please avoid using the common areas for recreational activity. Continued use of these areas as playgrounds can wear out the grass, compact the soil and create erosion, especially on terrace slopes. The Fairlington Community Center grounds and Utah Field provide convenient and ample space for recreation. Stairwell Renovation Update Surveys were sent to the affected owners and the responses were forwarded to the interior decorator. If you have not sent your survey yet we would like to hear your opinion. We look forward to your input. Please return your response to Sher Opal by mail or fax (see page 3 for address and fax number). Carry That Pooper Scooper From time to time we need to remind people to clean up after their pets. This goes for cats as well ad dogs. Residents should take note that both our by-laws and Arlington County Ordinance require you not only leash your dogs, but pick-up after them as well. Dog feces presents a serious health hazard to you and your children. Please be a good neighbor Swimming Pool and Tennis Court Update Swimming pool passes were mailed to applicants in early May. If you have not received your passes, contact Legum & Norman. The Board reminds residents that no passes will be issued if association fees are not current. Renters may want to check with landlords regarding the status of pool passes. Tennis court rules and regulations can be found in the "Welcome Handbook", on pp. 15-16. They are also posted at the entrance to the court. The combination to the court lock is 3221 (the pool house number). Trash, Recycling and Large Item Pickup Please do not leave trash out overnight as it attracts rodents and crows. Regular pick-up time is at 8:00am Monday through Saturday, with recycling pick-ups scheduled for Wednesday. Large items can be set out by the curb for pickup on the first Saturday of the month. Glass can be placed in securely-tied plastic bags. Electronic Green Leaves Available In an effort to save both time and money, the Fairlington Green Condominium Association is giving you the opportunity to receive the Association's Bulletin (Green Leaves) electronically. Not only will this keep you up to date with the latest information concerning our community, it will save money associated with printing and distribution. If you are interested in receiving the bulletin electronically, please email Keith Zielenski at kaztakzielenski@msn.com (Please include your email and home address in your email. This will ensure that you will be added to the electronic list and removed from the hard copy distribution list.) For those of you who would like to continue receiving the bulletin in hard copy at your home, do nothing. You will continue receiving the bulletin as you currently do.
