PE03257A.gif (4096 bytes)Good news! We convinced the Commonwealth Transportation Board and VDOT to start at ground zero and conduct an assessment of the corridor and our transportation needs. The overpass proposal is gone. The feasibility study, now being conducted by Michael Baker Inc. and VDOT will "define the transportation needs in the study area."

Welcome to the home page for the King Street Beauregard Neighborhood Alliance!

The Alexandria City Government plans to tie up traffic for three years to widen King Street to 11 lanes and build a $30 million overpass at the corner of King Street and Walter Reed Drive/Beauregard Street. You can view a map (116KB) of the project.

Political and other interests are pressing for this overpass, which will push more traffic off Seminary Road onto King Street. Almost 20 years ago, community homeowners led a citizens' effort to defeat this project. Now we have to do it again.

This site contains current and historical information about the project, contact and meeting information, as well as suggestions for how you can help fight this costly and unnecessary project.

Visit our News: Project & Alliance page for the latest information about the project and Alliance activities.
