Shirlington Library and Signature Theatre Development Click Here for Project Status |
As many Fairlingtonians know, Signature Theatre is constructing a new theatre complex in the "New Village at Shirlington" with state-of-the-art equipment, expansive office space, and top-notch technical facilities. Most importantly, it will have two fully-equipped, flexible black box theatres, providing a launch pad for ever-greater artistic achievement and community service.
The Fairlington Community is fortunate indeed to have such an outstanding cultural institution soon to be within walking distance. The enthusiastic theatre-goers of Fairlington are thanking their lucky stars (and the Arlington government) that the County has made this opportunity available by approving the "New Village at Shirlington."
Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer is a world reknowned producer of plays that earn rave reviews in The New York Times, Variety, The Washington Post and other world-class publications. In addition to the finest local talent, Signature is a home to such luminaries as Cameron Mackintosh, Stephen Sondheim, Terrence McNally, John Kander and Fred Ebb, as they continue to develop new work.
With 38 Helen Hayes Awards and 157 nominations to its credit, Signature was honored by the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation for "its artistic vision and commitment to the support and development of musical theatre artists." (from Signature's web site)
