OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT
WASHINGTON
October 30, 1999
Dear Friends:
It is a great pleasure for me to send my congratulations and warm regards to all those being honored for their volunteer efforts on behalf of Fairlington's designation as an Historic District. While I regret that I am unable to be with you today, as a native Arlingtonian I am well aware of Fairlington's importance to our community and my thoughts are with you as you celebrate this great occasion.
As Americans, we have the opportunity to share our resources, values, and time with others. Your community service is an example of what we all should strive for in order to secure a better quality of life for members of our community.
I believe volunteerism is essential in meeting many of the special needs of our citizens. That is what I salute all of you for your willingness to give unselfishly of your time and talent. Your dedication and hard work have made a difference. Please continue to build on the enthusiasm and commitment to community service.
With all best wishes,
Sincerely,
Tipper Gore
